UNDER 3s – NIDO AND PARENT TODDLER PROGRAM (0–3 YEARS)
The Under 3s playgroup program forms an integral part of Montessori education, addressing the child’s needs in the first three years of life. The Nido (0–18 months) and Parent Toddler Program (18 months–3 years) environment is carefully prepared to promote infant and toddler tendencies towards independence. Although children are accompanied by a parent or caregiver, the child-sized furniture and activities facilitate use with minimal adult assistance. Completion and repetition of tasks without interference is important, allowing the child to build competency and concentration. Led by a trained Montessori 0–3 director, the program increases parents’ awareness of the child’s capabilities and need for independence, and provides opportunities to implement this understanding in the home.
Under 3s activities include:
- Language enrichment materials.
- Manipulative materials to refine hand-eye coordination and visual discrimination.
- Practical life exercises, including food preparation.
- Expressive materials for art and music.

Our Nido Program and Parent Toddler Program sessions are held at Eurobodalla Hall in Newport on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings during the school term. Children attend one two-hour session a week, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Infant siblings (non-mobile) are welcome free of charge.
