Our Community
Barrenjoey Montessori School enjoys a vibrant and supportive school community consisting of students, families, alumni, staff and local community members. Choosing Barrenjoey Montessori is a commitment to your child’s development and education, and to the school community.
To maintain the culture of our community, parents donate their expertise and time in many areas of school life such as fundraising, serving as class parent liaisons, and as chaperones on excursions. Parents also participate in Montessori education sessions throughout the year to better understand their child’s education journey.
Your involvement in the school sends an important message to your children that you care about and value their education.

Parent Education
Parent education workshops and discussions play an important role in educating parents about the philosophy and practice of Montessori and may cover such topics as Montessori materials and applying Montessori in the home . Held three to four times a year, attendance at these sessions is strongly recommended. Parents can also learn more about Montessori education by borrowing books from our parent library, reading articles shared online and attending Montessori community workshops featured in the school newsletter.

Fundraising
Fundraising not only helps us to cover the costs for immediate and long term resources, but also serves to strengthen the fabric of our school community and our ties to the community at large. The admirable efforts of current and previous parents have made the school what it is today. Barrenjoey Montessori School fundraising events take many forms and range from the popular Cinema by the Sea event to local cake stalls, raffles and silent auctions.

Contributions
There are many ways that families can contribute to the school, and each year families are asked to allocate their preferred options. The choice is diverse and there are many opportunities for parents to match their skills, time and resources with the needs of the school.
